Thanksgiving Afternoon
We had a beautiful sunny Thanksgiving afternoon.
First we relaxed on the beach...
Then we swam in the hotel pool...
and the floated around the "lazy river" ride at the hotel. The current was strong so all you had to do was let the river give you a ride.
Skyler sat on my lap in one of the tubes.
notice how empty the pool was. i guess everyone was eating thier turkey dinner early. when we got there a family was leaving to fly back to sweden, and then when we were on the river ride there was one family sitting on the chairs, but when this photo was taken we were the last ones at the pool.
when we move to florida we will not always be at the pelican beach hotel, but will probably be in a beach condo with pool or house community with pool. as for the rides and water parks: from my research into the area, all over south florida there are tons of water parks set up for resident families to enjoy in the summer. these are not just pools with water slides or slides but actual water parks for the people who live in south florida. we also found a GREAT one in Key Largo. and lots of playgrounds ON the beach too.
now if you say, but its soooo HOT in Florida! The way I see it, its JUST as hot here in Phila. in the summer, but with no ocean nearby and not as many water activies, and also if you do drive the hour or so to the ocean closest, the water is very cold and dirty, whereas in Florida we will be closer to the ocean, and the ocean is very warm & clean & pretty. So during the hot months we will be at the beach/pool/ocean/water parks/snorkeling/scuba etc. during free days and then during the not as hot winter months when the ocean is chilly we will do more outdoor non-water things like walking on the beach, roller blading, walking, hiking, treasure hunting on the beach, geocacheing, and all the cultural stuff we normally do-- maybe even visit Disney or do some Everglades stuff. oh and of course boating and fishing and crabbing and LOBSTERING (ie we will put out lobster traps....yum)-- don't forget those.
