Fireworks at Deerfield Beach
We went to see the fireworks at Deerfield Beach (which is next to Boca to the south). Luckily, just as we parked the car the rain stopped. We did a Mr. Magoo move finding the only parking garage by accident and coming out from the garage in the middle of everything, the busy area of Deerfield just where we wanted to be, by the pier and shops etc. July 4th is quite the experience in Florida! The fireworks are on the beach*- they set them off from the pier. we had a quick dinner at one of the on the beach restaurants (tourist trap I know but we were short of time and hungry). Then went to sit right to the left of the pier. another Magoo move for us, as we had no idea the fireworks would be set off FROM the pier, so we had the best spot! Fireworks are legal in Florida, so all over the crowded beach (packed every which way- huge crowd) people were setting them off while waiting for the big show to start. so it was very entertaining. It was VERY festive and there also was the crowd at the 2 beach bars behind us. People were so lively that it made the Peddlers Village crowd in PA from last year seem like they were all sedated. It is also the best wathcing from the beach facing the ocean- so pretty and so comfortable. it happened there was some over the ocean lightning in the far distance: mother natures fireworks. The fireworks themselves: WOW! They were really good and long. About halfway through, it appeared as if the pier was on fire, but NO it was actually a wall of fireworks dripping down like a waterfall of fireworks from the pier into the ocean! It was so pretty and unique and by the time I thought to try and take a photo, it was over. Then when you thought it was over, it started up again.
