Activity TV Shoot
Shayna had her TV shoot today for "Activity TV" a new feature/show on Comcast On Demand that will premiere in January 2007. Shayna was in a promo/intro. shot, which means that every time someone clicks on the Activity TV tab and it opens, before every show there is an intro. part. That is the part that Shayna did today. The guys in the filming room said that she would be seen a lot (because the intro. is the same for every episode, while the kids in each episode change).
Here is how the shoot went:
1. Arriving at the studio- Center City Film & Video. They have the whole building at 15th and walnut. Its right in the CENTER of Center City, in one of my favorite spots: the beginning of restaurant row (Le Bec Fin, Brasserie Perrier, Alma de Cuba, Susanna Foo are all walking distance from here). So we passed by City Hall on the way. We met a producer in the elevator on the way to the 2nd floor, but didn't have time to talk to him much (he was very friendly though!).
2. Through the hallways of the second floor, we went into the conference room. We checked in with Sarah and then it was time for hair and make up. She changed her ponytails into a more subdued style- black thin holders and then covered with her own hair (no holder seen only hair).
3. Into the studio. Shayna was to pour colored blue water into a beaker with dry ice and then look surprised. They put goggles on her but took out the plastic because of the glare. It looked really cool when it fizzled out of the beaker. There were maybe 5-6 men in here, not sure who was who (producers, director, animation, etc.).
4. They switched to a bigger beaker but then decided they liked the way the smaller beaker looked in the shot.
After this I left... they had some food in the hallway and the conference room for the kids and parents so I grabbed a sandwich and went back to the conference room. I found out they filmed about 30 episodes of the cooking shows, using about 60 kids and are shooting more. Shayna was booked for the promo shoot only, but hopefully they will like her on camera and she will get to be in some episodes too.
About 5-10 minutes later, Shayna came in. She was done. I think the total time she spent was no more then a half hour. not bad for $150! Some of the other promo kids did that day were: drawing a dinosaur, experimenting with a volcano model, and stirring a bowl. Shayna ate a bagel and then we left.
Shayna told me on the way home that after she finished the beaker part she was standing against the green screen wall. they said she looked like she was flying and to pretend she was flying. then they said they would put in clouds behind her. Then they told her to dance. So I am hoping those improv shoots get onto the air as part of the final promo/intro.
We have to wait until it airs in January to see it. I can't wait!!
