First Day of School: 4th Grade
Today was Shayna's 1st day of school as a 4th grader at Valley Elementary. So back to the daily rituals, such as:
1. After school snack: Shayna is always very hungry when she gets home. Today she wanted an apple. Of course, Skyler wanted some too, so he joined her for an apple snack.
2. Homework: this is actually her SECOND day of homework, since her teacher, Mrs. Richman, sent thier 1st assignment, a questionaire about themselves, home with her intro letter. Shayna had to color in a fish and write her name on it (for the job board), write in her journal about how she got her name, and fill out and give me all the myriad of papers/forms/handbooks/etc. that come home on the first day. Skyler wanted to join in on this too, so I gave him a paper with HIS own name fish to color in with colored pencils. Shayna is bringing in his to show Mrs. Richman tomorrow.
Here are some of the things she brought home in her bag and homework folder. Yellow homework book, black writing journal, and the goodie bag gift from Mrs. Richman.
On the "goodie bag" which is a paper lunch bag it says:
WELCOME
Dear Shayna, welcome to your new classroom. The items in this bag have special meanings.
1. The penny is to wish you good luck during the school year.
2. The bookmark is to remind you to read because reading helps you to learn.
3. The pencil is to remind you to write because your thoughts and ideas are important.
4. The eraser is to remind you that everyone makes mistakes and that is OK.
5. The lifesaver is to remind you that I am always here for you!!
She also got a gift, which was a book:
Shayna said that Mrs. Richman told them that she works very hard to make sure that they are challenged.
